Description

Community college classrooms today bring together students from across generations—dual credit Gen Z learners, working Millennials, mid-career Gen Xers, and Baby Boomers returning to education. These generational differences influence learning preferences, communication styles, and expectations for feedback and technology. This light-hearted webinar explores strategies for creating inclusive, engaging classrooms that honor these diverse perspectives. Participants will examine key generational characteristics, identify potential areas of disconnect, and practice adapting instructional techniques to reach all learners. Through interactive polling, real-life teaching scenarios, and collaborative discussion, attendees will leave with actionable strategies for bridging generational divides, fostering intergenerational collaboration, and enhancing engagement in multi-generational learning environments.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify defining characteristics, key cultural moments, and learning preferences of Generation Z, Millennials, Generation X, and Baby Boomers.
  • Apply teaching strategies that engage multiple generations in the same classroom.
  • Design activities that promote communication, collaboration, and empathy among learners of different generations.

Note: Webinars are only available to individuals at NISOD member colleges.
